Nice. Live Nation rejected me for this one, naturally =P

There were very few photogs at the gig too, so my guess is the band has a strict management.

Well, their excuse this time around claimed it was because the show was sold out and they weren't giving out many passes as a result, or something like that =P

They get fewer press tickets from the band reps when a show is sold out and of course they have to prioritize bigger media first. So not exactly an excuse, this is just how things work in the music biz.

Yeah, I know. I just don't know why they accepted my application to be a media at all if they were planning to reject me for everything I apply for. They could've just said I'm too small-scale and said no.

That's the procedure. They reply to all requests. It might even be done through an automated mail list for all we know.
And they can't *plan* to reject you. It all depends on how big a band is in Finland, how many press tickets they were given and how full the venue is.
Well, and what other media applied to that particular show, too.

Actually, Mika told me yesterday that LiveNation doesn't do their accred requests themselves - they send it off to the band's people, and they make the calls. That makes a lot more sense to me.

I'm pretty sure that's correct... I always go directly through the band's management or record label and skip live nation. I do recall when I shot BFMV last October, I was the only photographer that got approved to cover their set... no idea how I got that lucky.
